Makalu base camp trekking is restricted, most thrilling and less touristic trekking of Makalu Barun National Park spreading in Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Makalu base camp trek one of the unexplored and untouched wilderness of Makalu region that has a lot of natural scenery and cultural villages to offer. The trek visits one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. The Barun valley is a part of a huge international protected area under the agreement between the governments of Nepal and China, which comprises of 2330 sq. km of National Park and 830 sq. km of conservation area in Nepal alone .Makalu base camp trekking have widerange of altitude and clamitic variation, it offers diverse home of various flora and funna. Makalu barun national park contains all ecological zones tropical, sub tropical, temperate, alpine and sub alpine so it is rich in wildlife diversity. It is the home of more than 3000 species of flowering plant , 440 species of bird , 75 species mammals including snow leopard, red panda, wild boar, wild yak, Himalayan thar etc.
Makalu base camp trek starts with an hour long flight to Tumlintar whereas the real trek starts from Chichila heading towards the Barun River Valley to Sedua and Num, then crossing Shiton La Pass (4210m) into the upper Barun River valley for close look at Makalu and Chamling Himal. Commencing this trek will leave you with memorizing scenery and never strenuous experience.

Half day Kathmandu valley sightseeing and then prepare for the trek. Overnight at hotel.
Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlintar in the morning and drive about four hours to reach Num (1,490m). Stay overnight at Num.
Trek uphill to Seduwa (1,450m) about five hours enjoying the natural beauty on the way. Stay overnight at the camp in Seduwa.
Trek uphill through rough way and natural beauty towards Tashigaon (2,135m) which takes about five hours on foot. Stay overnight at the camp in Tashigaon.
Trek uphill the route about five hours to reach Kungma (3,556). Stay overnight at camp in Kungma.
Today is rest, refreshment and acclamation day. Visit around Kungma and stay overnight at camp in Kumgma.
Today we trek via Shipton La high pass (4,217m) about eight hours to reach Mambuk (3,553m). Stay overnight at camp in Mambuk.
Today we trek up the route about six hours to reach Nghe Kharka (3,760m) via the rough rocky route. Stay overnight at camp in Nghe Kharka.
The journey of about six hours takes us to Langmale (4,407m). Stay overnight at the camp in Langmale.
About five hours trek up the route with the view of mountains and nature takes us to Shershop (4,572). Stay overnight at the camp in Shershop.
A short trek of about three to four hours up the route takes us to the Makalu Base Camp (4,812m). Stay overnight at camp in Makalu Base Camp.
A day hike towards Hilary Base Camp (4,950). A good view of Mt. Makalu can be observed from Hilary Base Camp. Stay overnight at camp in Hilary Base Camp.
Today we descend down the route about six hours to Yangle Kharka (3598m). Stay overnight at Yangle Kharka.
Trek the trail towards Mumbuk about six hours. Stay overnight at camp in Mumbuk.
Today we trek the trail via Shipton La Pass towards Kungma (3,443m) about eight hours. Stay overnight at camp in Kungma.
Today we trek down the rocky hills about seven hours to reach Seduwa (1,540m). Stay overnight at camp in Seduwa.
Today we trek about six hours towards Num. Stay overnight at camp in Num.
After about four hours of drive we reach Tumlintar. Stay overnight at Tumlintar.
Early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Enjoy leisure time exploring or shopping. Overnight at hotel.
