This trek is completed by 5-7 hours of walking per day with a small backpack having enough breaks in between. But better prepare for this trek with adequate exercise and fitness. These could include, daily walking, going for a hike, a long walk once a week, doing yoga-related breathing, etc.

Food and Accommodation at Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek 

Food and accommodation are the priorities for every traveler during their Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek. Ama Dablam lies in the rural part of the country and the 3 -star hotels but we can provide excellent lodge houses and hotels. Overall 7 nights are stayed in the trek and 3 days are added to the stay in Kathmandu. The hotels are mostly twin sharing and the single bedroom can be managed upon your request.

Food is essential during the trek. Burning of food is the essence for energy to achieve this trek. There’s a saying in Nepalese “Dal Bhat power, 24 hours” meaning the dal bhat gives you the power to withstand for almost a day. The national cuisine is dal bhat however Sherpa’s cuisine or the foods such as momo noodle soups and other local dishes curries, lentils and vegetables can be prepared upon your wish and request.

Breads, eggs, pizza, prawn, momo, ramen noodles, desserts such as ice-cream, porridge, and steaks are commonly found and included in the menu. No traveler must worry about their foods as we prepare a detailed list of your taste and include it to the hotel and place of your stay during the Ama dblam Base camp Trek .

We had selected the best hotels during the trek where we provided standard meals of the day as breakfast, lunch and dinner. We may however provide you complimentary tea and coffees occasionally. We highly encourage you to drink green tea, hot or warm water, coffee and want you to be fully hydrated during the course of the trek.

We strongly encourage you to avoid hard drinks and highly caffeinated drinks and dairy products as they may cause difficulties in higher elevation to your physiology and health.

Best Time for Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek 

Autumn and Spring are considered as the best time for Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking. In the spring (between February and April) has the best-achieved climate. The temperature lies between the ranges of 20 degrees to 5 degrees at night. The skies are clear, no hue or cloud are seen, the paths are green and lushly, the adequate snow on the mountains and drizzling crystal clear water on the stream alongside the pine and rhododendron forest.

Similarly, the best season for Ama Dablam Base Camp trekking is between September and early November. This is also the best time as lots of travelers are seen in the trek and a rapid peak or influx in tourism is seen. No fluctuation in weather with adequate temperature makes this season excellent. The Nepalese major festivals; Dashain and Tihar also lie in this season. The skies are clear and the season is excellent for trekking.

Though not highly preferred, the rainy season from early June to late august can be the time to achieve Amadblam Base camp trek. This season has the most changeable climate i.e. from clear to rainy weather. However, the time isn’t the harshest as no snow falls in this season and one can enjoy the monsoon alongside the rocky mountain terrain.

The period between late November to early February is not preferred as it is the winter season and has the harshest cold. The most casualties heard occur during this season. The continuous down pouring of icefall and the temperatures to the minus degree Celsius in minutes makes this trek almost impossible.

Tipping During the Trekking

Tipping is your own choice of presenting the gratitude for your services and within your discretion. You may wish to tip for the services you like or just say “DHANYABAD” in Nepali terms to show your immense gratitude for the service.

Tipping is usually offered on the final day of the trip. Similarly, trekkers can tip to the hotel, lodge or people on any day they like. The amount of tipping is entirely upon personal choice and perception.

Altitude Sickness and Acclimatization on Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek 

When the elevation is above 2000m from the sea level AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) symptoms can be seen due to less oxygen in the atmosphere, which will make breathing difficult. Dizziness, Headache, Fatigue, Nausea are the symptoms of AMS.

Remember you’ll be trekking above 4000m in Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek, so there is a less chance to get AMS. You should walk slowly and steadily to let your body get used to the thin air. If you try to walk fast and cover high altitude in less time, there are chances to get AMS. Precaution should be used to keep conditions from worsening. Drink Plenty of water which keeps the body hydrated and have balanced diet food that can energize your body.

Drinking Water on Ama Dablam Base Camp

We highly recommend you to carry one reusable water bottle with you which can hold hot water rather than buying bottled water. Bottled water can be expensive in trails and also it can add thrashing problems in Everest region.

You can use water purification tablets to purify water. But the taste will be different after using tablets. Always try to drink water after purification and proper treatment. Boiled water is available at the teahouse with additional cost.

01- Arrival at Kathmandu

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, which lies in the capital city of Nepal. Our company representative will be there to receive at the Airport with the holding board. You will then escort to the hotel preferred by you and briefing about the trip.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Preparation for Trek

Kathmandu Valley is famous for its religious monuments where 7 heritage sites (Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swaymbhunath, Changunarayan Temple) are listed in World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

Your day starts in the late morning after breakfast. A guide will take you to the historical places and provide detailed information about the culture, architecture, monuments, lifestyle of people, festivals. After half day sightseeing you will be driven back to the hotel and will be briefed about the trek.

Day 03- Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding

Early in the morning, we prepared for a trip. We take morning breakfast at the hotel then leave the hotel for Airport. The flight will depart from Kathmandu to Lukla. On arrival in Lukla, our experienced local porter will meet you. Heading down the trail to Phakding, we already notice the fluttering Tibetan prayer flags and meet local people reciting Tibetan mantras as they walk.

Day 04- Phakding to Namche Bazaar

On this day, the trail takes through forest villages with plowed fields and yak pastures. As we enter the Sagarmatha National Park, you can see Thamserku rising above us. We will continue our journey to Namche Bazaar as it is the largest sherpa village in the Khumbu region and is the starting point for expeditions and trekking groups.

Day 05- Acclimatization and Hike to Khumjung

Acclimatization is very important while trekking at high altitudes, to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude. The best way to acclimatize is to be active.

On this day, you can explore Namche Bazaar and the Sherpa lifestyle and will take you to visit the school set by Sir Edmund Hillary in the Khumjung village. This town contains numerous Wifi linked cafes, restaurants, souvenirs, and gear shops. Mountains such as Kwangde, Thamserku, Kangtega, Nuptse, Lhotse,and  Ama Dablam can be seen from here.

Day 06- Trek to Pangboche

After having breakfast, climbing all the way uphill to Pengboche will be a bit difficult, but will be exciting to take challenges. After uphill, descending towards the Dudh Koshi River, crossing the river through suspension bridges, and then further after a couple of hours, will be ascending uphill to a flat area. As you reach the Tengboche Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region that dedicates to Tibetan Buddhism can be viewed surrounded by stunning mountains around.

Day 07- Hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp and Back to Pangboche

Finally, it has arrived. Today you will reach at Ama Dablam Base Camp from where you can observe Ama Dablam; the world’s most beautiful mountain. Ama Dablam means “Mother’s necklace’. The long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (Ama) protecting her child and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women.

Today, the trail descends towards Imja River and then further ascends to Cholungche Kharka a viewpoint, taking further uphill heading towards the Ama Dablam Base Camp. Ama dablam base camp offers majestic view of the giant Himalayas that includes, Mt.Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lonuche Peak, Pumori, Thamserku and so on.

Day 08- Trek to Namche Bazaar

On this day, you will be descending to Namche Bazaar. With the views of the hilly green valley and snowy mountain behind descend at a nominal place in a more relaxing way.

Day 09- Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

This is the final days of foot trek. The entire trail is a gradual descent until Lukla. We cross many small villages, suspension bridges, pine and rhododendron forests. Dudh Koshi River and its tributaries flow along with us throughout the trail.

Day 10- Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we took a flight to Kathmandu from Lukla and escorted you to your respective Hotel. After taking some rest you can go for shopping.

Day 11- Final Departure

According to your flight schedule, our company representative will manage everything for you and drop you off at the Airport. If you have enough time then we will take you for sightseeing where you can do shopping.
